Munster Junior Semi Final

Cúil Mín were defeated by Feoghanagh – Castlemahon in the Munster Junior Football semi-final on a score of 0 – 16 to 1 – 08.

This game was played in excellent weather conditions which contributed to a great game. Cúil Mín started in a blaze of glory with a goal by David Neenan after a 45m free kick by Cathal O’Connor dropped short. Feoghanagh – Castlemahon stormed back into the game with 4 unanswered points to take the lead. Alan Marrinan and Cathal O’Connor responded with points to give the lead to Cúil Mín by a point after 10 minutes. At this stage Cúil Mín goalkeeper, Aidan Corry pulled off a great save. Feoghanagh – Castlemahon began to dominate at this stage and scored 4 more unanswered points. Cúil Mín finished the half strongly with points from Cathal O’Connor and David Neenan ( free ) to leave half-time score. Feoghanagh – Castlemahon 0 – 08 Cúil Mín 1 – 04

Cúil Mín introduced Martie McMahon in the second half. Alan Marrinan scored a great point from play to level the game. Feoghanagh – Castlemahon responded with 2 quick points. Kevin ( Val ) McMahon cut the deficit to one with a great score from play. Both sides swopped points at this stage with Cathal O’Connor scoring for Cúil Mín. With the game in the melting pot Kevin ( Val ) McMahon pointed a free to level the scores 11 points to 1 - 08. In the closing 15 minutes of the match, Feoghanagh – Castlemahon started to dominate midfield and added 3 excellent points. Cúil Mín introduced Michèal Brooks, Kevin Corry, Paudie Corry & Joe Corry as substitutes in an effort to get back into the game. Cúil Mín applied tremendous pressure but Feoghanagh - Castlemahon held firm and scored 2 points in injury time to seal their victory. All our players gave 100% effort on the day but just fell short against an excellent team. Congrats to team management & players for their efforts and commitment during the year.
