Cùil Mìn defeated Miltown in the Junior A Football Championship at the weekend on a score of 1 – 12 to 1 – 03.

Playing with the aid of a strong wind Cùil Mìn made an excellent start with a well taken goal by Aaron Kelly in the first minute. This score laid the foundation for an impressive first half display. With our defence on top, ably led by team Captain Brian Markham and our midfield securing good possession numerous scoring chances were created. Points from Cathal O’Connor (2), Alan Marrinan (2), Kevin Corry (2) and Kevin “Val” McMahon gave Cùil Mìn an interval lead of 1 – 07 to 1 point.

Miltown started the second half in determined fashion but the Cùil Mìn defence held firm and soon regained the advantage. With some great attacking play Cùil Mìn scored points from Cathal O’Connor, Martie McMahon, Kevin “Val” McMahon, Alan Marrinan and Kevin Corry. Miltown fought bravely to the end and scored a consolation goal in injury time but Cùil Mìn ran out deserving winners.
