Coolmeen defeated Kildysart in the in the 3rd Round of Div 3 Football league on a score of 0 – 09 to 0 – 07

This was a close hard fought encounter between the sides played in blustery conditions. Ger (Bobby) Kelly opened Kldysart’s account with a pointed free. Rory McMahon followed up with a point from play to extend the lead. Coolmeen responded with a Cian Murphy point from play plus a pointed free from David Neenan to level the game. Soon after David Neenan scored a point from play to give Coolmeen the lead. Kildysart responded in determined fashion with a point from Barry Crehan before Ger (Bobby) Kelly pointed a free to give Kildysart the half time lead by a point.

Half Time: Kildysart 0 – 04 Coolmeen 0 – 03

Kildysart started the second half quickly with another pointed free from Ger (Bobby) Kelly quickly followed by a Neil O’Connor point from play to extend the Kildysart lead to 3 points. Coolmeen now showed true character to reduce the lead with pointed frees from David Neenan & Cathal O’Connor. Cian Murphy scored a point from play to level the game before Ben Cleary gave Coolmeen the lead with another point from play. Coolmeen pushed on with another pointed free from Cathal O’Connor & point from play by Cian Murphy to give Coolmeen a 3 point lead nearing the end. Kildysart threw the kitchen sink at Coolmeen in the closing stages & Ger (Bobby) Kelly pointed a free to reduce the margin but the Coolmeen defence held firm to record a deserved victory
